And while the size and scope of the game is massive, there's barely any noticeable slowdown or technical hiccups, regardless of the platform. Players can grow their character in a variety of ways, and experiment with multiple play styles ranging from sneaky to strategic to brutish. It's also devoted to providing players with choice - not just in dialogue and in what tasks you take on, but also in how you want to play. Featuring an enormous amount of voiced dialogue, great writing, and grand world-building, it's a transportive experience, successfully delivering a busy fantasy world that feels alive and bursting with possibility. But it's still a treat for people who want a resolutely single-player old-school role-playing game. Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning isn't really more (though it will be getting an original expansion sometime after launch) so much as it's a lightly refurbished take on the original. While this ambitious and expansive role-playing game (RPG) labored to find an audience when it first arrived in 2012, its small but devoted base of followers spent subsequent years pining for more. Parents should also be aware that text and spoken dialogue contains occasional references to sex and sexuality, and some scenes take place in taverns with patrons drinking what appears to be alcohol. Players have some capacity to control the customizable protagonist's reactions and choices, electing whether or not to steal items, help those in need, or even kill some civilian characters. Their bodies remain where they fall, sometimes in pieces. Enemies call out in pain, and some bleed when struck. Combat against both humans and monsters (such as boggarts) is viewed from a third-person perspective and involves magical spells, various melee weapons, and bows and arrows. Players assume the role of a fallen warrior brought back to life with missing memories and a drive to fight the evils that have befallen the land. The game is a re-release of a title that originally launched in 2012, and has all of the previously released downloadable content (DLC) included in the title.
